[VIDEO] GIRL Power Gives Students Confidence and Pride

Swansea High School counselor, LaToya Willams, is empowering girls to reach for the stars. Her program GIRL (Girls Illustrating Respect and Leadership) Power is inspiring juniors and seniors to take a leadership role in school and to prepare for life after high school. The girls learn about effective communication skills and how to dress for success. They also participate in community fundraisers.

Diamond Nelson says, “GIRL power makes me feel strong. It makes me feel like I have a place.”

Williams wants her girls to strive to be the best and to take pride in their academics. “I want them to know they can be anything they desire to be as long as the put forth the work and the effort for it.”
